“Hosting Undiscovered America will be a natural extension of everything I love to do,” says Downing, whose latest adventure brought him to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, an experience he classifies as “a revelation.”

“Exploring both America and the rest of the world to learn new, weird, and wonderful things — and then getting to chat with the people who make them that way — is exactly what I’d be doing if the cameras weren’t there,” he says. “So it’s going to be a very real production, a kind of what-you-see-is-what-you-get, which I believe viewers will respond to.”
